Service Description

Reading Groups, or Book Clubs, can be wonderful places to discover like-minded companions, and new authors. They are environments that allow us to explore our own, sometimes surprising, responses to difficult topics. It is my experience that Books provide us with a common focus – like sitting around a bonfire - to direct our thoughts and responses around, while all manner of personal experiences, beliefs, emotions, doubts and questions come out as a result. There is something gentle and safe about reflecting ones’ deep thoughts to the fire, heard and encouraged by those around the circle. Bonfire Reading Groups are small, safe places where anything can be discussed in an environment of confidentiality and the affirmation of being heard without judgement or correction. It is a space of exploration, curiosity, and encounter. A group to discuss the ideas presented in the reading list and how they fit, or don’t fit, within our lived experiences. The Bonfire Reading Group is a monthly gathering space for the exploration of self and the books authored by exceptional and diverse thought leaders within the Spiritual community. We will do this with a handful of other folks eager to embark on a journey of curiosity and growth. The Bonfire Reading list will include books with mindful inclusion of BIPOC, Female, LGBTQ+ authors, with hopes to encounter and engage with new voices from within the global church. This Reading Group will run 10 months, September through June, on the second Tuesday of the month. Each gathering will include the discussion of one book, read ahead of time. Maximum 8 participants. If the minimum number of 4 participants is not reached by 24 hours before the initial session, all sessions in the course will be cancelled and a refund will be issued.
