Group Spiritual Direction (In Person)
Group Spiritual Direction is an excellent way to explore your spiritual path with others.
Service Description
Group Direction involves a closed group of 3-6 directees and the facilitator/director. Group Spiritual Direction is a process by which people gather together on a regular basis to assist one another in an ongoing awareness of God in all of life. It aims to be a safe space to voice the sacred details of your spiritual life, how God encounters you and how you encounter God. We will meet bi-monthly for a total of 12 Sessions, over the course of 6 months, October - March, on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Group Spiritual Direction is an excellent way to explore your spiritual path with other people wanting to do the same. You can learn things with others that you don’t learn by yourself or with just one other person. In group direction you discover: · You are not alone in your questions, doubts or need to articulate your faith. · While your spiritual path is unique, it may parallel another’s from time to time. · God engages with each of us in diverse and meaningful ways. · How powerful it can be to have a group of people listen to your story and pray with you. In Group Spiritual Direction you will hear and experience one another’s sacred stories. You will share your own stories and experiences. You may be given opportunity to offer some simple responses or questions. What you will not be doing is evaluating, judging, offering advice or in any way imposing your views on another member of the group. These strict boundaries are what the Spiritual Director will be sure to maintain with the aim to provide a safe space for sharing. (credit: patheos.com). Members agree to: · Commit themselves to an honest relationship with God. · Participate wholeheartedly in the group process through prayerful listening & response. · Open their spiritual journeys for consideration by others. The depth of sharing necessary in group spiritual direction demands a level of trust not often found in other types of groups. This trust is not dependent upon similar personalities, mutual interests or common experiences; rather it is grounded in a trust of God’s desire for each participant individually as well as the group as a whole.
