Service Description

The focus of the Sacred Rhythms Group is to learn about, and experience, Spiritual Practices we may not have encountered before. The group will read through Ruth Haley Barton’s book, Sacred Rhythms: Arranging our Lives for Spiritual Transformation. Participants will read about, and practice, the spiritual disciplines outlined in the book and gather 9 times to discuss our experiences and responses to these practices. Sessions will follow the chapters of Ruth Haley Barton’s book: 1. Introduction – What are our expectations, how do we feel embarking on this journey? Do you long for more/a Spiritual Transformation? 2. Solitude: Making Space for God 3. Scripture: Encountering God Through Lectio Divina 4. Prayer: Deepening Our Intimacy with God 5. Honoring the Body: Flesh-and-Blood Spirituality 6. Self-Examination: Bringing My Whole Self Before God 7. Discernment: Recognizing and Responding to the Presence of God 8. Sabbath: Establishing Rhythms of Work and Rest 9. A Rule of Life: Cultivating Rhythms for Spiritual Transformation Each gathering will include the discussion of one chapter, read ahead of time. Book not included in price. If the minimum number of 3 participants is not reached by 24 hours before the initial session, all sessions in the course will be cancelled and a refund will be issued.
